(Emergency First Aid Course)
Aim: To train individuals from industry and commerce in
emergency First Aid techniques and the duties of a First Aid “Appointed
Person” as detailed in the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations
1981.
Duration: 1 Day (Approx 8 hrs)
Pre Requisites: None
Objectives:
- To train individuals in the duties responsibilities laid down in the
H&S (First Aid) Regs. 1981 for an Appointed Person - To satisfy by ongoing assessment the candidates competence to carry
out basic life saving First Aid in the workplace until professional help
arrives

- First Aid regulations and responsibilities of an Appointed Person
- Actions in an emergency
- Primary & Secondary Assessments
- Principles of Resuscitation (EAR & CPR)
- Unconscious Casualty
- Wounds & Bleeding
- Spinal Injuries
- Burns & Scalds
Training Methods
Highly participative with many practical exercises
Confirmation of Learning
Is achieved by oral questioning and ongoing assessment by course
instructor
Site Requirements
Classroom facility with power and enough space to conduct practical
training and assessment
Note: On attending and passing this course the candidate will be qualified
to act as an Appointed Person (First Aider) in the workplace for a period
of 3 years.
